:::::K.I.S.S UPDATE.:::::
We're lookin' pretty good for Sunday! A few of you have told us what you plan on doing & we trust that the rest of you are just gonna show up with cool things for us to do!
Looking forward to some massage, a performance by Baha & Potato Cannon French Fries from Disaster Area! YAY! There's no one in charge of music yet, so bring your ipods!
We're also getting a sense from the Facebook page how much food to get for the BBQ portion, so be sure to RSVP there, & if you're not on facebook, email us & let us know if you're coming for dinner!
Check out the webpage for latest deets & info: http://www.recompression.com/kiss & email kiss at @recompression.comif you have any questions.

:::::PHOTO SLIDE SHOW at K.I.S.S.
:::::
Hey everyone... Yonderboy will be setting up a projector at the event to share photos from Recomp, and highlight the many good times that all of the amazing volunteers helped to make happen.

He'd rather not only include his own photos, but would be able to do this best if you sent him a bunch of your shots too, in .JPG format.  They don't have to be maximum resolution from your camera as the projector only does 1280x720, but don't worry about resizing them if you don't want to.   He'd just prefer that he didn't have to try to harvest them off the web himself, as that would take far longer.

If you'd like to include yours, please send them to him by whatever means you prefer... his email is yonderboy at crankandflaire dot com.  If you don't already have a way to send large files over easily, why don't you give Dropbox a try (https://www.dropbox.com/referrals/NTQ0MzQyMTA5)... it's perfect for tasks like this.

Please note:  Your photographs will be used for the slideshow *only*, and will be deleted from his hard drive afterwards... in case you are conscious about where they could end up.

:::::FREECYCLE @ K.I.S.S:::::
Gregarious is off on grand adventures soon & as such has some stuff he's bringing to give away!
If you have a few items you wanna grab to add to the pile that you think others there might like, please bring them! Items such as costumes, gear, artsy, geeky, hackable, etc... would be appropriate. We need a volunteer to haul away the leftovers at the end as well, let us know!

Also, you may have heard about Gregarious' Ride to Conquer Cancer. He will be happy to share information on the event & would gladly accept donations!

:::::LOST & FOUND:::::
Wendy & squishelle went through the lost & found box & took a bunch of pictures of the loot, which we'll bring on Sunday as well. Check these pics out & leave a comment when you see something of yours!
Wendy is sifting through all of the emails that were sent to lostfound@ & will let you know if your item has been found in what we have.
Also, if other peoples' items somehow ended up in your stuff, please bring them on Sunday! We will put a list out of all of the items that are still missing, hoping they are dispersed among us!

::::::LOCATION INFO - GETTING THERE::::::
http://www.recompression.com/location

::::::TICKETS & RIDESHARE FORUM::::::
Lots of people are looking for rides & we need you to help them out!
If you can no longer attend the event, please contact registration ASAP registration@recompression.com. We are printing welcome packages tomorrow, so any changes are crucial to us!
Please post a NEW THREAD for each ticket or ride offer/need on the "Rideshare & Event Tickets" forum at http://www.burningvan.org.

::::::THURSDAY ARRIVALS::::::
Over 2/3 of you have indicated you'll be at camp for breakfast on Friday! Sounds like we're going to have a lot of people up on Thursday! PLEASE DO NOT ARRIVE before 7:30pm unless you have a Thursday Early Arrival ticket. You WILL be asked to leave & come back. Don't be "that guy", the gate crews are working so hard to get everyone in.

::::::PEER SUPPORT::::::
Peer Support is still looking for people for the following 2-hour shifts on Saturday: 10-12 midnight, 12-2 am and 2-4 am. The only requirement to be a Peer Support attendant at Recompression is to be a grounded, sensitive individual who can sit with peers who are in emotional distress. It is also crucial that Peer Support attendants be committed to show up at the agreed time and be sober for their shift. All you need is a strong sense of compassion, ability to promote calm, a non-judgmental attitude and a sincere desire to help. PLUS there will be excellent yummy treats, soothing ambient music and cool retro lighting!
Thanks for your help,
Jason and Pockets

::::::VOLUNTEER RESOURCES::::::
Kazmira & Yonderboy are your Volunteer Coordinators for Recompression 2010.  We will be arriving at Elphinstone on Thursday afternoon, and can be found in the Dining Hall at mealtimes, or at Tropicana (Lodge 2), and will be reachable via radio.

On Arrival

Pod Leads: Please check in with us to let us know that you have arrived, inform us of any needs you may have so we can direct your volunteers as they arrive.
Volunteers: If you have volunteered for something and need direction or help finding your Leads, we are there to help you!

In The Dining Hall

The communications board in the Dining Hall will have lots of information for everyone.  There will be a "Volunteer Call-Out" sheet (and a pen!) available on the communications board.

Need a Volunteer? Write yourself up on the call-out sheet so that volunteers know what you need and where to find you.
Want to Help Out? Check the board for Call-Outs to see who needs help and go find them!

If you need to find a member of the Production Team, or a Pod Lead, you can check the boards in the Dining Hall for this too.  Photos and cabin info will be posted to help you find your way.

We're all volunteers!  Many thanks to YOU for helping make this incredible event happen.
Cheers,
Kaz & Yonder

::::::TALENT SHOW::::::
All acts are in, and it's going to be a great show. To make it even better, though, the Talent Show needs the following:

  • a soothing deep radio voice for a special off-stage role during the show
  • one more stage hand to join our universe-class crew
  • a gong and mallet or a shofar or other show-stopping noise-maker

To answer our call, please get in touch with the talent show at talentshow@recompression.com. Thanks!

::::::LEAVE NO TRACE CABIN GUIDELINES::::::
This is a Leave No Trace Event!  Your cabin must be clean before you leave – please don’t rush off to the ferry and leave a mess behind. Also please make time to spend a minimum of 30 minutes helping with cleanup in common areas (teardown, MOOP removal, etc.)  Recompression is a participant-driven event; without your help and cooperation, it can’t happen!

Thank you for being so freaking awesome!

1. Garbage: We would prefer that you take your trash with you. If this is not possible, please at least take it to the dumpster behind the kitchen.  More bags are available from staff at the dining hall.

2.  Recycling:  The clear bags provided are for beverage containers ONLY.  If you want to recycle paper, you will have to do that independently by taking it home.  Paper recycling is NOT available on site.

3. Cleaning Supplies: Garbage bags are available at the dining hall, paper towels and soap/water are in the bathrooms.  Please don’t make any messes that can’t be cleaned up with the aforementioned items!  There should be a broom in each cabin – if yours is missing, borrow one from a neighbour.  If for some reason you need additional cleaning supplies, ask one of the Elphinstone staff.

4. Smoking: smoking in the cabins is not permitted.  Smoking is only permitted in designated areas.  If children find cigarette butts on the grounds while summer camp is in session, we will not be allowed to return here.  Behave accordingly.  There are “ashtrays” (metal cans) in strategic locations.  Use those or carry your own butt container.

:::::THURSDAY ACCESS UPDATE:::::
NEW INFO: If you have an early arrival pass:
There is a group at camp tomorrow. Only after 3pm is the camp really 'OURS'. We made special arrangements for those of us who needed to be there early.
We are ONLY allowed on site AFTER NOON to access ALL BUT LODGES 3 & 4, where the kids are still at until 3pm.
PLEASE DO NOT SMOKE ON SITE UNTIL THEY ARE GONE & GIVE PRIORITY to the current renters, be mindful of the kids!!

:::::EXPENSE REIMBURSEMENTS:::::
If you have been approved for reimbursement for any project at Recompression X, here is how you do it:

Bring you receipts to the Dining Hall at: Friday lunch or dinner and Saturday lunch or dinner. Find ABEL. She will give you an envelope to self address and a form to go over. Please be patient because she is new at this whole counting thing. After everything is approved, the paperwork will go to GVIAS to be signed and they will mail you your cheque.

What's the most important part of this procedure? BRING YOUR RECEIPTS!

:::::WEATHER:::::
Alas, it's looking rainy & COLD!!!
Check the weather for Gibsons: CLICK HERE!
Bring lots of FUNFUR, leggings, rubber boots, slippers for inside cabins (shoes ON in the Dining Hall please). review this page for what to bring!
Cabins & lodges are WELL heated tho, so that's good!

And lastly, do not freak out, we're almost there!

All of the pod leads are working so hard to get things sorted, & this is their way of communicating with you.

Videos needed
DPW/Ground Safety materials
Fire Safery Vollunteers

::::::GATE SHIFTS::::::
Hello fellow travellers!
Recompression is soon upon us and we're on the lookout for some amazing Gate Volunteers.

Gate volunteers are responsible for manning the gate and facilitating entry into Recompression. This includes ticket collecting, ensuring everyone has signed their waiver and enters the camp sporting their flashy new tattoo.

This is one of the most important volunteer roles of the event, so we are looking for responsible volunteers who will show up on time, and show up sober!! That being said, there's a ton of fun to be had in this position - did we mention you get to play with sponges??

The Gate Application Form can be found here.

If you've got any questions or comments, send us a line at: greeters (at) recompression (dot) com
We look forward to hearing from you!
Ashley & Andy

::::::TRANSPORTATION::::::

The transportation team is on the lookout for volunteers to help with loading the truck pre-Recompression and unloading post-Recompression. The more hands the better, to ensure all of our amazing art projects make it to Camp Elphinstone.

Loading will occur Tuesday March 30 and Wednesday March 31. We have several pick-up locations across Vancouver, so if you've got even a couple of hours to spare, we'd LOVE for you to come give us a hand.

Also, a reminder to anyone looking to request space on the truck - you MUST send an email to transportation (at) recompression (dot) com outlining the location, size, weight, dimensions when packed for travel of your project.

We will have the final pick up schedule sorted out this weekend. Only those who contact us will receive information regarding pick-up locations and times.

If you have any questions, let us know and we'll do what we can for you.

Ashley & Chris

The deadline for reserving real estate in Planet X for your tent is quickly approaching. Please email lov(abel) at planTENTarium at recompression.com by Sunday, March 28 to let her know if you want to add something to this project.

::::::FIRE SAFETY VOLLYS::::::
More people needed to take the 1 hour wrkshp Saturday morning just before lunch and help with perimeter safety watch during the fire show: all we need our vollys to bring are non-flammable, warm clothes, a sober mind and a positive attitude towards fire... if you have ever been interested in fire performance, this is a great way to start.

  • LNT needs large tin cans
  • Bring your Drums
  • Ferry Reservations recommended

::::::THEME CABIN PLACEMENT REVEALED::::::

Awesome response to the theme cabins this year!
Thanks for Yvonne & Noam for slaving over all of the apps & managing to fit 22 applications down into the 20 available dwellings!
Without further ado, here is the Recompression 2010 Planet X CAMP MAP!
http://www.recompression.com/participate/theme-cabins/themecabinlist2010

::::::LEAVE NO TRACE::::::
On behalf of this Leave No Trace event I need to callout for donations of large tin cans for cigarette butts! Film canisters & mint tins can also be ideal for personal use. Bring them to the event and I will place them accordingly or let's talk before! If you can help contact Wendy, lnt@recompression.com
http://www.recompression.com/participate/dpw

::::::DRUM CIRCLE::::::
This year at Recompression there will be an outdoor drum circle. If you have a hand drum, djembe, doumbek, tambourine, washboard, or something else you want to use to create rhythm--bring it! If you have extra drums, bring those for others to play. If you'd rather not spank those animal skins, you could simply put on your bare feet and free your animal spirit to frolic and growl. Probable time: Friday afternoon, weather depending.
http://www.recompression.com/participate/live-music

:::::: NOTE ABOUT FERRY RESERVATIONS::::::
Dianamite advises: Don't forget to make ferry reservations, Recompression is on a Easter weekend this year and that generally means big line ups and wait times. Usually they add extra ferries, but it's also common for a ferry to have some sort of problem and be out of service, which slows down the whole system.
Go here: https://welcome.bcferries.com/rbi/index.asp?RT=V-SC
It costs $15 each way but a sailing wait is 2 hours... I figure my time is worth more than that!

::::::PLANET X TALENT SHOW::::::
Slots are filling up fast for the Planet X Talent Show. Some performers are native Planet X-ians, and others are flying in from Saturn, Betazed, and Earth (mostly harmless). Just an FYI - we don't yet have any performing telepaths, extrasensory empaths with clairsentience, love gurus, or shapeshifters. While we hope for the absurd, resplendent, and transcendent, all entries are welcome.
If you want to perform for the best audience in the universe, go ahead and fill out the Act Entry Form found here: http://tiny.cc/entry_form
What YOU can do to make the talent show an astounding success and the birth of a sea of smiles:

  • help with sound (you'll get to play with fun sound effects!)
  • help organize the performers (you might even finagle some autographs!)
  • help in some other way that we haven't thought of
  • offer a GONG and mallet for the show
  • offer decorations or set equipment that inspire you

Pwease get in touch, and become a happy pea in our pod: talentshow at recompression dot com

::::::
planTENTarium::::::
Ever wanted to create your own planet? Now you can - by being a part of “planTENTarium!” In Recompressions past, we have set up a ‘tent city’ in the Moose Lodge (aka Planet X) where participants put up camping tents and created their own little spaces within them. You can put whatever you like inside (it is, indeed, YOUR planet), be it a chill area, art installation or intergalactic space station.  If you’re interested, email lov(abel) at plantentarium
at recompression dot com to let me know the approximate square footage your tent will need/take and I’ll forward our request to the Planet X Décor leads to reserve us some real estate!

::::::SYNERG LIVE::::::
..Ground Control to Planet X..................................
......Planet X, this is Ground Control.....do you copy?.......
............Planet X, you are approaching too close to Saturn.
....our scans are detecting high levels of unknown radiation..
and as it was foretold...when Planet X and Saturn collide.....
....finally there will be peace in the Galaxy!!!..............

Planet X presents SynerG Live!, a live music convergence at Recompression 2010. Among the rings of Saturn, the voices of the heavens, drums 'n bass, strings, horns, and all manner of sound processing will collide, offering anyone with an aural fixation a chance to play, dance and listen!

This is a CALL-OUT to musicians, singers, dancers, break beat djs and anyone wanting to explore the realm of participatory live jamming and performance! Do you play one or more of the following and want to participate?  bass, drums, slide guitar, marimba, mandolin, brass or woodwind, hand percussion, keyboard, sampler, guitar, banjo, nose flute, harmonica, thereman, accordian, zither, glockenspiel, talking drum, dumbek or sousaphone, etc...? bring em out!

Specifically at this time, we are making a special call-out for bassists & drummers, banjo (yes, banjo!) & mandolin players, singers with an ear for harmonies, live sound engineers, and new this year... djs who want to experiment with live break beats and/or turn-tabling as part of the rhythm section.
Contact us and tell us what you play and what instrument or equipment you can bring. If you are new at your instrument or new to "jamming" you are most welcome... there will be a workshop facilitated by the SynerG Live! team on Saturday afternoon specifically for newbies.

Email Patrick Stauch, artistic director for SynerG Live!, at synerglive
at recompression dot com

Take note that this is NOT a call-out to those who wish to perform in the Talent Show.

Direct Talent Show enquiries to Aaron via the http://www.recompression.com/participate/talent-show page.

A portion of Saturday night will consist of programmed performances (ie. performer sets) that have an interactive component to them, morphing into a full blown jam. If you have a well rehearsed act that is interactive or encourages audience participation and exceeds the time limits of the talent show then contact Patrick about the possibility of being slotted into Saturday evening.

SynerG Live! will be a multi-use space for Talent Show rehearsing on Friday during the day and workshops Saturday morning. Other than that, it will serve as the live music venue after the Talent Show on Friday and full programming Saturday afternoon onwards including Mass Wedding, Tea Party, Pajammin' 101 workshop and rehearsal for the Burn ceremony. Programming details to follow closer to event.

Also, we need cushions, blankets, pillows, mats, and soft fuzzies to make things comfortable for those who just want to take it all in!

Planet X, this is SynerG Live! at Saturn... you are approaching at optimal speed, trajectory, and vibration. Adjust your phasers to "stun", your mood to "sensual", your booty to "gyrate" and your ears to "shock and awesome"...Over and out, Planet X...

::::::HUGGERS, WE WANT YOU::::::
You know you want to help with this one!!

Agent Tom here... Our Happy Pranksters Organization is on a mission. What kind of mission, you might ask? Pulling off a practice run at Recompression for:

"The Happy Pranksters World Record Hug-Off"

We want to break a guinness book record this summer at BURNING MAN to get the most people hugging for 1 minute!!!!!!!!!!

We are putting it through as a practice workshop at Recompression and it will be happening on Saturday, right after lunch.

We need as many bodies as possible to help us. Information to be posted in the Dining Hall, we sure hope you can join us!

(and hug us!!)

Love and gratitude,

The Many Agent Toms

Recompression is now SOLD OUT! WOW! How exciting!
Alas, many people who want to come have been unable to purchase tickets & a wait list is now in effect. We are still finalizing the list and waiting for some payments to clear, and expect to squeeze in a few more folks.
Please be patient as we do our best to get through this process & we'll let the people on the wait list know as soon as we can clear some more spots.
After this process is completed, we'll then let everyone know where to go to post Ticket Needs & Offers.
Thanks to all of you who made it in time & we're so excited at the amazing number of people we'll be sharing the event with!
Thanks,
