Pockets & Jason welcome you to the Peer Support Pod! Peer Support
is a place for anyone to go who needs someone to talk to, or a place to
get away from the party if they're feeling challenged, on Friday night
and Saturday night. We're here to help, not judge. Peer Support is a grounding space intended to provide a safe place for someone in emotional or physical distress to reclaim a more solid grounding and sense of peace with the aid of an attendant or close friend. There will always be someone available Friday and Saturday nights to offer a calming presence, open ear and the comfort that it's all going to be okay. We'll be operating
from 10 pm to 4 am on Friday night and 10 pm to 4 am on Saturday night. Please email Peer Support to volunteer for a shift. Shifts will be 2 hours each. Shifts: Friday 10pm-12am; 12am-2am; 2am-4am
Saturday 10pm-12am; 12am-2am; 2am-4am
Volunteers at the Peer Support Centre will work in close conjunction
with the Rangers and First Aid attendant to provide support as needed.
Invitation:
Peer Support Attendants: The only requirement to be a Peer Support attendant at Recompression is
to be a grounded, sensitive individual who can sit with peers who are
in emotional distress. It is also crucial that Peer Support attendants
be committed to show up at the agreed time and be sober for their
shift. Knowledge of first aid would be a bonus, but there is no requirement for it - just a strong sense of compassion, ability to promote calm, a
non-judgemental attitude and a sincere desire to help.
The role of the attendant will be to stay at the Peer Support Centre
during their shift and receive anyone who enters on their own accord or
anyone who is brought to the centre by Rangers or First Aid (who will
be roaming).
Schedule: Friday, April 2 10pm-12am 12am-2am 2am-4am
Saturday, April 3 10pm-12am 12am-2am 2am-4am
