Salutations from the Theme Cabins pod!

What’s the deal with the Theme Cabins I hear about?

Are you new to Recompression? No idea where you’re sleeping or how it all happens?

Here's what you need to know...

 CAMP STRUCTURE

Sleeping accommodations at camp Elphinstone are set up as follows:

  • 16 cabins: each accommodating 12 people in bunkbeds. Cabins are heated, but no washroom. All cabins share a centrally located Shower Building. Cabins are closer to the Dining Hall & Moose Lodge.
  • 4 lodges: yes, we're down to only 4 lodges this year, as #6 is under repair, and one of them is slated to be Kids Kamp! All of them have had bed capacity upped to accommodate 36 people each! The Lodges are a little further away from the Dining Hall & Moose Lodge, but provide 36 beds in smaller rooms (8 rooms with 4 or 5 beds each), with bathrooms, shower & sink amenities.

LEAVE NO TRACE: Clean Cabins are Happy Cabins!

This is a Leave No Trace Event!  Your cabin must be clean before you leave – please don’t rush off to the ferry and leave a mess behind. Also please make time to spend a minimum of 30 minutes helping with cleanup in common areas (teardown, MOOP removal, etc.)  Recompression is a participant-driven event; without your help and cooperation, it can’t happen!

Thank you for being so freaking awesome!

1. Garbage: We would prefer that you take your trash (and recycling) with you.  If this is not possible, please at least take it to the dumpster behind the kitchen.  More bags are available from staff at the dining hall.

2.  Recycling:  The clear bags provided are for beverage containers ONLY.  If you want to recycle paper, you will have to do that independently by taking it home.  Paper recycling is NOT available on site.

3. Cleaning Supplies: Garbage bags are available at the dining hall, paper towels and soap/water are in the bathrooms.  Please don’t make any messes that can’t be cleaned up with the aforementioned items!  There should be a broom in each cabin – if yours is missing, borrow one from a neighbour.  If for some reason you need additional cleaning supplies, ask one of the Elphinstone staff.

4. Smoking: smoking in the cabins is not permitted.  Smoking is only permitted in designated areas.  If children find cigarette butts on the grounds while summer camp is in session, we will not be allowed to return here.  Behave accordingly.  There are “ashtrays” (metal cans) in strategic locations.  Use those or carry your own butt container.

Checklist:

___Lift all mattresses and make sure nothing is left underneath

___Check under all beds

___Check windowsills, shelves etc.

___Sweep floor

___Wipe up any spills

___Remove all staples or tacks – ask around for pliers if you are having trouble, don’t leave any sharp bits sticking out for little kids to hurt themselves!

  KIDS KAMP
As a community, we value parents and their children attending Recompression, and as in past years, a cabin or a lodge will be assigned to use by families, leaving potentially only 3 lodges for theme applications. If you are bringing children, please contact the Kids Kamp leads, Steven & Jenny at kids@recompression.com.
